Tom Young throwing a large stoneware bowl

Tom has been a full time potter for over forty years.  He gained an honors degree in  ceramics from    Stoke-on-Trent, where he studied under Derek  Emms; who worked in St Ives with both Bernard  and David Leach.  He also trained at Stockholm Art  College in Sweden.

Tom, together with his two brothers founded  Stonebridge Pottery in Walsall in the 1980's.

Having settled in Penwith in Cornwall for the last  twenty years, he has established a new studio.

Tom is now passing on his knowledge and
skills with a series of one day stoneware pottery
throwing courses and half-day taster sessions at  his studio pottery taking place this year.  Please  take a look at our Pottery Courses page for more  information.
